Despite having several issues thrust into their path that kept them apart, one Salem couple will finally have a chance to rekindle their romance just before the New Year on Days of Our Lives.

John Returns Home For The Holidays

John (Drake Hogestyn) originally returned to town months ago, but became caught up in the issues involving his son, Brady {Eric Martsolf). Soon afterwards, he was attacked by Theresa (Jen Lilley), who whacked him in the head with a fireplace poker, leaving him in a coma for months. He was successfully brought out of that state by a miracle drug, and was returning to normal.

However, he covered up Theresa's role in the crime against him in order to keep Brady away from Kristen (Eileen Davidson), and when Brady realized he lied, he sent him off to Europe to handle the family's business there. John now returned home again and mended things with Brady-and now he is focused on his rekindled efforts to win Marlena (Deidre Hall) back-for good this time.

Abigail Keeps A Huge Secret From Jordan

As the two potentially re-embark on their love story however, another young couple in town will start seeing their love story crash and burn around them. Jordan (Chrishell Stause) has been blissfully happy in her new romance with Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn)-and unaware that he is using her as a pawn in his and Stefano's (Joseph Mascolo) grand plans. Chad may have started growing to have some feelings for Jordan too-but his past manipulations are all coming back to haunt him in a big way.

Several people who are aware of his past and don't trust him will start expressing their concerns to Jordan. After Abigail (Kate Mansi) fails to succeed at convincing her that Chad is up to no good, Melanie (Molly Burnett) will make her own effort. And after two of Chad's ex-girlfriends come forward, Jordan may need to start listening to what she's being told.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
