While Snow/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming/David (Josh Dallas) took a back seat in the first half of ABC's Once Upon a Time's fourth season, they will be very important in the second half.

Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how Snow and Charming would play a role in the upcoming second half of the season and their connection to the Queens of Darkness.

"They're going to play a much more integral role in what's to come next, particularly with these Queens of Darkness," Horowitz revealed, discussing Snow and Charming. "Their paths and the future of Storybrooke are aligned in a way that we'll learn about very quickly."

Kitsis added that the couple is "really going to be in the forefront in the second half, and also their relationship with Emma [Jennifer Morrison] and their relationship with Regina [Lana Parrilla]."

The first half of the season heavily featured characters from Frozen, particularly Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail). With this storyline essentially concluded, the series will focus more on the core characters, even with the inclusion of new villains the Queens of Darkness (a.k.a. Maleficent, Cruella De Vil and Ursula).

Once Upon a Time returns for the latter half of season 4 on Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
