As 2014 officially comes to a close, the time comes to remember the shows that fans were forced to say a hard goodbye to as several popular programs ended their TV runs.

While a bevy of less-popular shows also got the cut over the course of the year, some of the ones that wrapped up their tenures were huge ratings and critical successes, or had a hardcore group of loyal followers making sure to tune in and watch every new episode live.

From a strong of late-night talk shows, to comedies and sitcoms, and even some big dramas, here are 14 of the more popular shows we said goodbye to over the last year:

1. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno

Run: May 25, 1992-February 6, 2014, for a total of 4,610 episodes and 22 seasons on NBC. He sat out only one season, where Conan O'Brien took over. The show still runs with new host Jimmy Fallon.

2. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson

Run: January 3, 2005-December 19, 2014, for a total of 2,058 episodes on CBS.

3. The Colbert Report

Run: October 17, 2005-Decmber 18, 2005, for a total of 1,447 episodes and 10 seasons on Comedy Central.

4. Chelsea Lately

Run: July 16, 2007-August 26, 2014, for a total of 1,048 episodes and seven seasons on E!

5. Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Run: March 2, 2009-February 7, 2014, for a total of 969 episodes and five seasons on NBC. Fallon left the show to take Jay Leno's place on The Tonight Show, and was replaced by Seth Meyers.

6. How I Met Your Mother

Run: September 19, 2005-March 31, 3014, for a total of 208 episodes and nine seasons on CBS.

7. Anger Management

Run: June 28, 2012-December 22, 2014, for a total of 100 episodes and two seasons on FX.


8. Sons of Anarchy

Run: September 3, 2008-December 9, 2014, for a total of 92 episodes and seven seasons on FX.

9. White Collar

Run: October 23, 2009-December 18, 2014, for a total of 81 episodes and six seasons on USA.

10. True Blood

Run: September 7, 2008-August 24, 2014, for a total of 80 episodes and seven seasons on HBO.

11. Boardwalk Empire

Run: September 19, 2010-October 26, 2014, for a total of 56 episodes and five seasons on HBO.


12. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Run: August 8, 2012-August 14, 2014, for a total of 52 episodes and four seasons on TLC.

13. Dallas

Run: June 13, 2012-September 22, 2014, for a total of 40 episodes and three seasons on TNT.

14. The Newsroom

Run: June 24, 2012-Decmber 14, 2014, for a total of 25 episodes and three seasons on HBO.
