In a recent interview, Matthew Goode, who plays Finn Polmar in The Good Wife, spoke about his character on the show and the comparisons drawn to Will (Josh Gardner).

New 'Disgusting' Character Joining For Rest Of Season 6 Of The Good Wife

The actor told the New York Times, that while, in some way, he had been brought on board to fill the void Will might have left, he could not quite take his place and fill those very large shoes that that character had occupied.

"You can't replace Will - you can't replace a character who's that influential and that loved," Mr. Goode said. "But what they have tried to do with Finn was make him be one of the few people so far on the series who doesn't have hidden agendas, who is sort of morally unambiguous."

Robert King, who is a co-creator of the CBS legal drama, also spoke about what kind of character they were looking for on the show.

"We wanted someone who was witty in court, who didn't hit you with brass knuckles but when you weren't looking might devastate you with his wit," King said.

The producer went on to dish a bit more about their decision of cast Goodman in the part, and much of it had to do with how well he got along with Julianna Margulies and his great sense of humour.

"He had this spectacular sense of humor on the phone, and that's what Julianna is into - she likes having a good time with someone who is funny," King said. "You want someone who is not too unctuous in his acting, who can take a U-turn from drama to comedy in a moment."

Season 6 will return after the brief winter hiatus with its mid-season premiere titled, Hail Mary, which will air on January 4 on CBS at 9 pm ET/PT
