Miley Cyrus was spotted in New York City on Aug. 23 with her new and famous bleached blonde haircut while trying to catch a cab in the city. The singer, 19, sported a black T-shirt, patent leather black boots and jean shorts with a shopping back in her hand, suggesting that the former "Hannah Montana" star found some goodies to show her fiance Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus' new haircut has made more buzz recently then the works on her new album or even her engagement to Hemsworth. Photos of the singer-actress' new short cut exploded onto Twitter last week, with Cyrus posting a total of 15 pictures of the look in less than four days.

"Never felt more me in my whole life ❤," Cyrus posted just after Tweeting a photo of her and her hair stylist, Chris McMillan. "❤❤❤ feeling so happy in my skin," she posted with one photo.

Hollywood hairstylist McMillan performed the transformation by turning Cyrus, in the words of People magazine's Aug 27 issue, "fron teen queen to rock star." A dramatic amount of hair was chopped off along with a color change from Cyru's previous honey colored lockes to a platinum bonde look, with choppy layers and a partially buzzed side.

The publication held a poll for readers to vote on their thoughts of Cyrus's new haircut and only 21 percent said they loved it. They also noted that model icon Twiggy inspired Cyrus' bold cut, stating that the model's photo was in Cyrus' dressing room in 2008 and that she told ABC News in an interview, "One day, I'm gonna cut my hair like that.
