She described it as, "'Dynasty' meets 'The Sopranos' meets 'Glee.' The high drama of 'Dynasty' with all of the glitz and glamour of fashion. It's the dysfunction of the family in 'The Sopranos' and the music element like 'Glee.'"

While she plays a feisty woman named Cookie, Henson's nickname in college was also Cookie.

"It's crazy. It's the weirdest thing. So all of my friends are calling me now like, 'Cookie is gonna be on TV! Everyone gets to meet Cookie.'"

She continued to share how she first received the nickname.

"Something about Cookie is sweet and the life of the party and that was me in college. You see Cookie is the life of 'Empire'. She's coming back to get what's hers and she will not be denied."

She went on to gush about loving her role and her co-stars. She mentioned Terrence Howard, who she also starred with in the successful movie Hustle & Flow.

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
