Although reports of a season 6 have been swirling for months, no one knew for sure whether it would happen until Corey's dad, Jeff Simms, shared a photo of their family filming the MTV series.

"We are back to smacking these things and having crews hover around us! @NanaSimms @CoreySimms2 @mirandabridget #TM2," Jeff wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

The last season of Teen Mom 2, season 5, was filmed last year and split into two installments, season 5A and season 5B. During both shows, fans watched as Corey and his ex-wife, Leah Messer, attempted to civily co-parent their twin girls, Ali and Aleeah. Unfortunately, the former couple didn't have much luck, and Messer dissed Corey behind his back on more than one occasion.

In Nov. 2014, Messer announced, via Twitter, she'd be quitting the show after season five.

"I hope my girls continue to move on with TM2. I wish them the BEST xoxo... My girls still do what they do and keep things going!" Messer wrote on Twitter of Kail Lowry, Chelsea Houska and Jenelle Evans.

At the time, a source told Us Weekly she had been "scarred by how her split with Corey [Simms] played out on TV."

A short time later, The Ashley's Reality Roundup confirmed Messer had, in fact, signed on to appear on Teen Mom 2 season 6.
