It looks like there are going to some big stories ahead for Mariana on The Fosters as she learns more about her background and what's next after quitting the dance team.

Three New Cast Members Join 'The Fosters'

On Wednesday, Rickey posted an interview with Cierra Ramirez (Mariana) who mentioned that she's getting in touch with her cultural heritage after having a quinceanera and spending time with her birth mother, Ana.

"Growing up in the foster system, she's had so many families," Ramirez said about her character. "The Fosters are so blended, and she doesn't really know who she is, or her background and what that means. So I think that's why she's struggled, turning her hair blonde and trying to figure out who she is. Up until now, Ana is the only Latina woman she has in her life, and you can see how that's turned out with her."

Is Callie Going To Run Away Again On 'The Fosters?'

The actress then mentioned what's next for Mariana now that she's quit the dance team and ditched her friend Tia. They're now going to create their own team as they compete against Anchor Beach.

"So they're going to have to scavenge around for some good dancers in Anchor Beach," she said. "But the other team already has the best, so we'll see how that plays out. One thing Mariana's going to get into that I'm really excited for people to see is she's getting into the STEM club, which is 'Science Technology, Engineering and Math.'"

The Fosters airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
