As much as David Tennant loves playing the adventurous Time Lord, it will be some time before the Scotsman dons his trench coat and Converse once more.

"I think you have to ration these things," Tennant informed Digital Spy. "It's great fun for me to do an anniversary show, but it's probably got to be at least 10 years before that happens again, I think."

Whatever Steven Moffat is planning for the 10-year anniversary of the Doctor who reboot, it's probably safe to say it won't include Tennant's iteration. The 50th reunion's "The Day of the Doctor" brought together Ten, Eleven, and the War Doctor for one shining moment (see video below), but Ten may never cross paths with Peter Capaldi's Twelve.

However, fans can currently catch Tennant as DI Alec Hardy in the second season of Broadchurch.
