While Kate Middleton doesn't know the gender of her second child, experts believe that little Prince George will be getting a baby sister this year.

Pregnant Kate Middleton Calms 'Shy' 2-Year-Old

This month's Hello! Magazine went into detail as to why Prince William and Princess Kate might be expecting a girl. For the job they enlisted Cathy Ranson, editor-in-chief of the parenting site Netmums.

Ransom referred to "old wives' tales" in examining Kate, who has recently reached her six month of pregnancy. According to Ransom there are a few physical traits which suggest that the royal family might just be expecting a baby girl.

"She appears slightly softer, curvier and fuller in the face…" she noted.  "This could indicate she's carrying a girl."

Ranson also explained that Kate's "more rounded hips" are "another so-called sign" of a girl.

Of course these clues are not an exact science, and even Ranson herself admitted that there are typically differences between a first and second pregnancy regardless of gender. Nonetheless, it does give people something to think about.

With three months to go, the curious will just have to wait and see what happens.

Princess Kate continued with her royal engagements this week, attending a number of charity events and school openings. She is expected to take a break over the next few weeks to celebrate the 60th birthday of her mother, Carole Middleton. Every year the family goes to the Caribbean to mark the occasion, and Kate will likely take one-year-old George along with her for the family vacation.

Kate is expected to give birth to her second child in April.
