The pop singer arrived at the rehearsals for the MTV VMAs at the Staples Center in Los Angeles sporting a short pixie haircut.

The 'We Found Love" singer arrived to waiting paparazzi and flashed a smile and waved when she made her entrance on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The 24-year-old was wearing a casual outfit that consisted of a t-shirt, jeans and Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

The Bajan beauty was making her way to the stadium to prepare her performance as the opening act at the 2012 VMAs.

She will perform her newest single, "Cockiness (Love It)" with Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, according to MTV.com.

The "Birthday Cake" singer was rumored to be performing with and sitting next to her ex-boyfriend at the front row of tonight's award ceremony but Chris Brown's publicist told Gossip Cop that the singer "will not be at VMAs in any capacity."

Rihanna is known for never keeping a hairstyle for so long. She recently wore long black, wavy hair to promite the "Battleship" movie. She wore long bright red hair at the 2011 Grammys, and sported a short blond style with shaved sides for the 2008 American Music Awards.

Her new short black pixie cut style has not been worn since 2009.

The MTV VMAs will begin at 8 p.m. ET with the pre-show beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
