Actress Emma Roberts recently spoke about playing a character on television, as she does in FX's American Horror Story, and how fans associate her with her characters.

Roberts has been in the past two incarnations of American Horror Story, playing Madison Montgomery in AHS: Coven and Maggie Esmerelda in AHS: Freak Show. The actress spoke with Heroine magazine about how people approach her now that she's on television and the scariness of social media.

"People come up to me and ask me all these questions about the show," she explained, according to JustJaredJr. "The whole social media aspect makes TV even crazier to be a part of, when the show's airing sometimes the cast will all do Twitter chats and you get such instant gratification for your work.

'American Horror Story' Season 5: Should Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates & More Return?

"Sometimes it's really positive and sometimes it's not, and it's strange how people associate you with your character so much more on TV. If you do something they don't like, all of a sudden they hate you. I'll be sitting there saying, 'But I didn't do that.' I think Twitter and TV together is kind of intimidating as an actor... it's a little scary."

Roberts appears to be moving on from American Horror Story as she is set to star in another horror-themed show called Scream Queens, which is being developed by AHS co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

The show is slated to air on Fox in the fall, with Roberts acting alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Joe Manganiello, Keke Palmer and Abigail Breslin. Pop superstars Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas will also be appearing on the series, which will be a horror anthology like American Horror Story.

American Horror Story season 5 is expected to premiere in FX on October, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
