Chris Brown's newest tattoo appears to depict a woman's partially disfigured face. The singer's latest ink job has been compared to the image of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna's battered face from the injuries she sustained when he assaulted her after the Grammys in 2009.

Brown's publicist told TMZ  his tattoo is a "sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. "It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported."

The unidentified tattoo artist also defended the rep's claim by revealing that the "Look At Me Now" singer brought the idea to him on paper.

Brown was photographed with the tattoo on September 1, five days before he shared the infamous kiss and a hug with Rihanna at the 2012 MTV VMAs.

The kiss came after she won the Video of the Year award for her "We Found Love" music video. Rihanna approached Brown in front of the LA Staples Center audience and the ex-couple hugged and kissed (apparently on the lips.) Afterwards, she passed her hand over his hair.

The moment stirred many comments considering the couple's history of having a volatile relationship in the past.

Several days after the MTV VMAs, Rihanna revealed an "under-boob" tattoo - an image of an Egyptian goddess inked just below her breasts.

The "We Found Love" singer posted the image of the tattoo, a tribute to her late grandmother, to her Insagram on Sunday, Sept. 9.

"Goddess Isis- Complete Woman - Model for future generations- #GRANGRANDOLLY - always in and on my heart #1lo," wrote Rihanna.

The photo shows the pop singer's arms covering her breasts with the striking tattoo of Isis with wings spread out just above her rib cage.

An insider close to Brown told Hollywood Life that Brown felt 'connected' to the "Birthday Cake" singer when she got the tattoo.

"Chris knows Ri loved her Dolly. He thinks her tat is hot and when he saw it you should have seen his face! I can't describe it but he was like 'ooouch, that hurrrrrrrt.' You had to see his face, though. It was like he was getting inked-up too with her and he felt it through her. They connected like that and sh*t, it's crazy. But he like the look and know there ain't no pain that would come between Ri and her Dolly."

Several reports are speculating that Brown and the Bajan beauty might rekindle their romance after she told Oprah Winfrey in a recent interview that the former couple "still love each other."
