FX's Justified's final season is underway and Joelle Carter who plays Ava Crowder recently dished on her storyline, working with guest stars and more.

'Justified' Showrunner Talks Episode 'The Trash and the Snake,' Including Return Of Dickie Bennett

The Trash and the Snake aired Tuesday night and Carter revealed to Entertainment Weekly Monday what's going on with her character, among other things.

During Tuesday's episode, Dickie Bennett (Jeremy Davies) returned after not being on the show since last season, which Carter said the showrunner Graham Yost "loves" attempting to do. "If you're not dead, you might come back," she shared.

How Does The 'Justified' Cast & Crew Feel About The Series Ending?

Carter in Tuesday's episode was alongside Mary Steenburgen's character Katherine Hale quite a bit. Carter dished that she thinks Steenburgen's children were the ones who talked her into taking on this role.

"I feel like her and Sam Elliott [Avery Markham] have this other side to them that's just menacing and scary in Justified because you don't expect it from their exterior packaging. I feel like Mary Steenburgen doesn't get this type of role so often, but she might after Justified," Carter said.

Carter opened up about her storyline involving Katherine.

"What I liked about Katherine Hale is that it starts off very intimidating, and then these two women really just respect and enjoy each other throughout the episode. They have this little heist," she stated, adding, "Mary and I both felt like, as we were going on, that we loved working with one another, but we also loved these two characters together. I was wondering, can Katherine and Ava just take over Harlan and get rid of all these men who are complicating everything?"

Justified is airing now on FX at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesdays.
