Justified aired its latest episode, Alive Day, on Tuesday and Erica Tazel recently opened up about her character Deputy U.S. Marshal Rachel Brooks.

'Justified' Wraps Filming Final Season

On Tuesday, Entertainment Weekly published their article with the actress who delved into finer details of her character's backstory.

In Alive Day, Art Mullen (Nick Searcy) brings up that Rachel worked on the Hale task force when she first started out, but Rachel has been on the sidelines as of lately, which could make it appear as though she's more involved than viewers are led to believe.

"There's definitely the suggestion of that, and we see that, but before the show ends, I'm not sure about that," Tazel revealed, adding, "Originally, when we brought on Mary Steenburgen [Katherine Hale] for those last three episodes of Season 5, and there was that interrogation with Vazquez [Rick Gomez] and we learned that they both were involved in that case, we were trying to get information for the final season. So we're going to see more of that, with the interesting backstory, and the professional backstory for Rachel. It won't be a major plot point, but it'll be referred to quite a bit."

Tazel also touched on her character's lack of personal history with Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) and Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter), which U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) has plenty of.

"[T]here's no personal history with Ava and Boyd, and so on one hand, that's an amazing strength that Raylan brings to it, because he can get five or six steps ahead of Ava or Boyd. But it can also trip him up a bit," Tazel shared.

"The flip side is that Rachel didn't dig coal with Boyd, or date Ava in high school, so there is an ability to sort of zoom out and see everything objectively without emotional attachment or need to take care. Especially with Ava, because she's between a rock and a hard place, and Raylan isn't a soulless individual; he does care about her. But as we see as the season goes on, that can complicate things a bit, and Rachel doesn't have that to navigate. She can be very honest and transparent with Raylan when she sees it happening to him," Tazel explained.

Justified is airing now on FX at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesdays.
