It's no secret Taraji P. Henson & Terrence Howard have lots of chemistry as they portray Cookie & Lucious Lyon on Fox's new juggernaut series Empire. But now the two have revealed if they have ever taken their romance off the small screen.

Henson & Howard graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week. Their TV sons played by Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers and Bryshere Grey were also in the photo shoot.

Howard confirmed whether he and Henson, who first stole fans hearts when they starred in Hustle & Flow together, have ever explored being more than friends.

"We're like father and daughter, mother and son, brother and sister. We've never been lovers. When I was doing 'Hustle & Flow', I was like 'I know I'm playing this character right if all my female co-leads wants to sleep with me.' Taraji was the only one that didn't want to."

Still, Henson made it clear she wanted it to be Howard who starred opposite her on Empire.

She added, "I just knew it had to be him. When I read the script, I was like, 'This is that deep love that you can't explain, that you just see, and Terrence and I have that for each other."

Even though Henson and Howard remain platonic, viewers seem to be addicted to their on screen love. It's a record-breaking hit for the network and television in general - something Howard said is a little surprising.

"I didn't know it would jump off from there. But now that such a huge audience has joined in to the dance and are following, I feel so responsible to keep them there."

You can catch Empire Wednesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
