A new report reveals that Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 might lose its position as highest grossing movie of 2014 to American Sniper.

Deadline revealed that by March American Sniper will have superseded Mockingjay Part 1's billings. Both Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 and American Sniper released in November last year. The report adds that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Guardians of the Galaxy are close runners up.

Meanwhile, Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 has the cash registers ringing in China, as it raked in a whopping ten million dollars on its first day of release. Deadline reported the movie's billings, and said the movie might be up for comparisons with Catching Fire, which didn't fare as well because its release was timed around Gravity.

A special 3D version of the movie was also released for the Chinese market, which might have been an added incentive for viewers.

There is some great news for fans who like to watch the brutal battle in another dimension. It was revealed that Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 will be released in IMAX 3D.

Variety reported that the movie will be the first in the franchise to be released in that format. Although Part 1 did not screen in 3-D when it was released in other countries, it's 3-D version hit theaters in China. Director Francis Lawrence is excited about the news.

"I'm thrilled Mockingjay - Part 2 will be in Imax theaters," Lawrence told Variety. "Fans will now have the chance to see the film in any format they want, which is exciting; we recently saw the 3-D version of Mockingjay - Part 1 before its release in China, and the new level of immersion was really fantastic."

The movie will hit theaters on November 20.
