Justified's latest episode The Hunt aired Tuesday night and many intense scenes between Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter) and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) were on display.

'Justified' Star Walton Goggins Talks Boyd's 'Undoing'

On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Carter's thoughts about the episode from filming to what's going on in Ava's head.

In the episode Ava and Boyd went to his father's cabin where she ends up confessing to being Raylan Givens' (Timothy Olyphant) informant.

'Justified' Star Walton Goggins Explains Boyd's Reaction To Ava's Confession

It would appear that Boyd would kill her for crossing him given he has killed before for that reason, but he doesn't do that.

Carter dished that Ava feels sorry for doing what she's been doing, but she had to.

"I don't think she's so much begging for her life as speaking up for herself, which is what I loved about that scene. She's defending her choice, and almost saying, in a way, 'If you were put in this position, you might have done the same thing,'" Carter explained.

"And she's also very hurt and sorry she had to do it. There's so much going on around that scene at the campfire. It was lovely to play, and exhausting," she added.

Boyd's initial reaction to Ava's confession was asking if she was sleeping with Raylan.

"It's such a turn there. Walton decided to base his journey on this season [on this idea]: this obsessive true love that in some ways has blinded him along his journey. It's not so much that she did this - which is typical because of their nature and violent history and who they are - it's more, 'Do you still love me? Are you in love with Raylan? Is that how you're doing me wrong?' Instead of, 'You ratted me out to the cops?'" Carter explained.

"'I can forgive that, we can turn that around, we can use that, but right now, what's more important is this other thing,'" Carter added about Boyd's thought process over her character being an informant.

Carter shared that she and Goggins feed off each other while filming such as with the gun-shoving scene, which she said, "was improved in the beginning".

"I'm never quite sure what Walton's going to do, which is beautiful ... he gives me that room, too," she said.

Justified is airing now on FX at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesdays.
