Klaus and Hayley might just emerge as the most unexpected couple on The CW's The Originals this season.

Mikael Set To Make Big Return On 'The Originals'

Their daughter may be a the product of a one-night stand, but baby Hope's existence has forever linked Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) on The Originals. Both actors have referred to the relationship between these two characters as something of a brother-sister or mentor-mentee bond, but could it become more? Is it possible for them to fall for one another?

Apparently, that's what fans are hoping for.

Find Out Why Klaus Is Raising 'Hell' On 'The Originals'

On March 5 E! announced that Klaus and Hayley are among the 16 contenders for the 2015 Top Couple Tournament. It doesn't seem to matter that Hayley is married to Jackson (Nathan Parsons) or in love with Klaus' brother, Elijah (Daniel Gillies). Fans like the dynamic between the hybrids and want to see more if it.

With attention like this, writers might just revisit the possibility of bringing the two together. After all, The CW is a network known for some serious fan interaction. Supernatural has been known to develop entire episodes as a wink at the viewers. Writers for The Originals even exhibited their own bias when they elected to keep Josh (Steven Krueger) around because they liked him too much to kill him off.

If nothing else, baby Hope will keep her parents bound geographically even if nothing romantic is going on between them.

The Originals will return on The CW for the remainder of its second season on Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
