The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga has revealed how her brother-in-law, Joe Giudice, is coping while his wife and her co-star Teresa Giudice continues her prison sentence.

Teresa is currently serving a 15-month term after she and Joe both pleaded guilty to fraud charges last year.

Joe is scheduled to go to federal prison for a little more than three years once Teresa is released. Word is she'll be out on Feb. 5, 2016, just a few months shy of her complete sentence term.

A teary-eyed Gorga made an appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and gave a brief update.

"It's heartwarming to see him. It's heavy on his heart. It's a lot. He's manning up, and he's doing what he has to do."

While Teresa is behind bars, her and Joe's four daughters, all 14-years-old and younger, are in his care. Gorga said he's definitely handling his responsibility when it comes to raising the girls.

"I pass him in the morning, and he's driving the girls to school. And I usually pass Teresa every morning," she said.

Teresa is being held at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, CT.

"She's doing well. My mother-in-law gives me updates all the time. She's doing really good."

Gorga's comments come just after speculation that he has been finding comfort in alcohol while Teresa is in jail.

A security guard hired to keep watch over Joe, Mark Behar, told Reality Tea on Feb. 27, "He must have had some money saved because he's always at bars and strip clubs, where he knows the owners and has been going for several years - even before this whole legal mess and Teresa being in jail," says Behar, who adds the excessive drinking has taken a toll on Joe's appearance and health. "Joe has gained some noticeable weight and does not look healthy."
