Giuliana Rancic has had many ups and downs this year, but everything is looking better after the birth of her son.

Rancic, one of the resident personalities on the E! network, welcomed her first son, Edward, with her husband Bill in August via a surrogate mother.

She said her son's birth was a magnificent moment, especially considering it came after she had a low point: she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

"I remember getting diagnosed last September, and it's fair to say that it was the worst day of my life, yet three weeks ago, I had the best day of my life, seeing my baby boy come into the world," Rancic said. "It just really teaches you so much about how resilient we are, and how strong we are. If you just stay positive, if you can just believe that there is a reason bad things are happening, some good can come out of it and you try to do good with what's happening to you. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel."

Now that a new joy has been delivered to her life, Rancic said she is all the more appreciative of her blessings, and she is diligently observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

"Having been through cancer, I know how important it is to live each day to the fullest," she said.

Rancic and her husband, who won the first season of Donald Trump's reality show "The Apprentice," worked hard to have a child naturally, but the couple eventually had to give up and consider surrogacy as the next viable option for growing their family, Access Hollywood reported.

"I knew it was going to be great, especially because we worked so hard at having a baby and we wanted a baby so bad, but it's even better than I expected," she said. "He's really opening his eyes now, and when he opens his eyes and stares at you for 10 minutes at a time while you're feeding him, you just realize why there's that mother-son bond and I say to myself: 'How am I ever going to say no to this kid!' He's got me. It's everything I had hoped for and more."
