Rihanna was selected by Billboard to be their "Top Pop Artist of the Last 20 Years."

The news came as a surprise to industry insiders considering the pop singer released her first single only seven years ago.

The Bajan beauty beat industry veterans including Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson and even her on-again off-again rumored beau Chris Brown.

Rihanna's was crowned the winner on Monday. Oct. 8, thanks to her ability to put out catchy, infectious, chart-topping singles consistently. The 24-year-old has released songs that are global hits that definitely helps get the party started- "Umbrella," "Don't Stop The Music," Birthday Cake", "We Found Love" and "Where Have You Have Been" are just a few of a slew of head-bopping nods that have helped led her to stardom.

Billboard noted that although she first landed on their charts in 2005, her "accomplishments are exceptional." According to the report, she has the most chart appearances (34), the most top 10s (21) and the most No. 1s. She's reigned with "Umbrella" and is doing very well with the recently released "Diamonds," the first single for her upcoming seventh album.

Rihanna couldn't contain her excitement for the news and expressed her gratitude on Twitter:

"Billboard crowned me #1 top 40 artist of the decade just 7 years into this!! My fans just majorly shat on ur existence"

Just a few days prior to learning the great news, on Oct. 5 Rihanna tweeted the latest campaign ad photo for her newest fragrance, "Nude."

The pop singer posted the photo to her Instagram with the caption, "Here is my new add for a brand new fragrance #NUDE !!! Make sure you smell sexy, especially naked, this fall!!!"

The "Diamonds" singer is wearing a nude textured bra and covered up and is holding up matching sheer fabric to cover her waist and nether region. "RiRi" sports a new hairstyle, flowing blonde locks to compliment her skin tone and the natural nude tones in the image. She is smiling as she channels a Marilyn Monroe-inspired feel.

Rihanna had mega success with her first two fragrances, Reb'l Fleur and Rebelle. According to Daily Mail, Rebelle is the bestselling perfume in the UK. The fragrance has sold over 2 million units and is expected to sell a record-breaking 4 million by the end of 2012.
