The 42-year-old took to Twitter on Thursday to share a snap of what her $29 looks like which included: 7 limes, cilantro, corn, whole grain brown rice, lettuce, black beans, eggs, peas and tortillas. She also got one onion, one clove of garlis, one avocado and one tomato.

The actress got over 1,500 retweets, but along came the criticism from her followers.

"You spend $29 on organic salt and pepper alone," one tweeted.

"Surprised if that feeds a family for a day even not good," said another.

"why'd you buy so many limes if you're on that tight of a budget? wtf?" tweeted a user.

The #FoodBankNYCChallenge is striving to raise awareness about hunger and the struggle that people go through to live on just $29 per person per week. Participants are allowed to use coupons, but cannot use food that was already in their homes or was given to them by others.
