Mad Men is back and hopefully we'll be seeing a lot of Betty Draper Francis in the coming weeks. Actress January Jones, who plays Don Draper's ex-wife, on the show, opens up about her character and admits that while she's matured over the years, she still has a long way to go.

In a new interview with Britain's Grazia magazine (via the Belfast Telegraph) this week, Jones says that even though Betty is "emotionally immature" she's not as bad as everyone is making her out to be.

She said, "There's a lot of us who probably shouldn't be mothers. I'm not including myself because I'm awesome, but there should be license to have a kid, I think."

Jones added, "Back then [the 60s], people were having them when they were children themselves. It changes your life in every way, and I don't know that Betty was selfless enough to be a mum. She's competitive and emotionally immature, but she gets better. She tries, and I think that's good."

She also said that filming this last season of the hit AMC drama was a difficult one, as she was very attached to the crew and cast along with her on-screen character, too.

She said, "This is the longest relationship I've had, so it was really emotional. I kept messing up my takes so that I could keep saying my lines for her. It felt like someone was dying."

Mad Men airs on AMC every Sunday at 10pm EST.
