In case anyone is interested, Russell Crowe is back on the market.

The 48-year-old actor has separated from his musician wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer.

The decision to split is reportedly amicable, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Crowe is currently busy filming Darren Aronofsky's "Noah," and his busy work schedule is reportedly the root of the split, according to New York Daily News.  The Oscar-winner first met and started dating Spencer 22 years ago on the set of 1990's "The Crossing," before he became a Hollywood A-lister.

Crowe later moved onto a very public relationship with actress Meg Ryan, but later rekindled his relationship with Spencer.

"The thought [of marrying her] crossed my mind the first time I met her," he told the Morning Herald at the time of their 2003 wedding. The "Gladiator" star and his bride later tied the knot in a purpose-built chapel at Crowe's farm in Nana Glen, near Coffs Harbor in April, 2003, but they have been based in Sydney ever since.

The two spent many years living in Woolloomooloo, but the family moved into a $10 million Rose Bay home at the start of this year after extensive renovations were completed.

Though Spencer is virtually unknown in the U.S., the 43-year-old was the talk of the tabloids in Australia in June when she was photographed out on the town with her dance pro partner from that country's version of "Dancing With the Stars." The couple dismissed any cheating rumors and Crowe later met his wife at the airport, showing a rare display of affection in front of cameras by kissing her publicly. It was dubbed as "damage control" by some commentators.

Crowe had also surprised Spencer on the set of Dancing with the Stars earlier in the year, when he and his boys dressed in tuxedos to make an appearance on the show. Whether any of that had to do with the split is still unknown.

Meanwhile, Crowe is keeping himself busy. He has a pair of movies coming out this year: the martial arts adventure, "The Man With the Iron Fists" and the musical epic, "Les Miserables."

Crowe and Spencer have two children together, Charles and Tennyson, aged eight and six respectively.
