While details surrounding the new AMC spinoff show Fear The Walking Dead have been kept out of the public eye, it has been confirmed that Orange Is The New Black star Elizabeth Rodriguez will be joining the cast when the show premieres this summer.

'Fear The Walking Dead' Producer Shares New Details About Series

On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reported that the actress, who plays Daya's mother Aleida Diaz on the Netflix series, has been cast in a mysterious role that the network is keeping very quiet about.

Despite the fact that viewers probably won't learn about Rodriguez's role until the show airs, the site assumes that she will join the show after the first episode considering the pilot has already been shot.

'The Walking Dead' Spinoff Will Stream On Hulu & May Start Airing In June

The Walking Dead spinoff series has already committed to two seasons with AMC however no official date has yet to be released.

While AMC has yet to announced an official premiere date, on Tuesday, a Walking Dead Twitter fan page sparked rumors after they made the announcement that the show would air on June 12.

Earlier this month Mashable reported that while the series will focus heavily on the zombie apocalypse, viewers will not get any information about the back story into how the virus outbreak started.

"Learning the origins is not the priority in Walking Dead; that's not the priority in Fear The Walking Dead," show creator Robert Kirkman said. "Every other story deals with that stuff and we're concerned about the heart."
