Derek Hough suffered an injury weeks ago, and at this point, it is unclear when he will return full-time to Dancing With The Stars.

Derek Hough Returns To 'Dancing With The Stars'

While Hough made an appearance during last night's trio dance with partner Nastia Liukin and substitute Sasha Farber, a permanent return to the series hasn't yet been arranged.

"I'm not quite there yet. I'm getting there. I'm slowly getting there!" Hough revealed to E! News on Tuesday. "I'm healing quickly. This is the time were you have false security, so you're like, ‘Oh yeah, I can do it. Oh wait, no, I'm out for eight months.' So I have to be very, very careful still. Slowly, but surely…I'm ahead of schedule as far as recovery."

Hough's partner, Liukin, also spoke to E!, revealing she's a bit hesitant to dance with her injured partner.

"I'm scared...to like step on his feet or his toe and I get so close sometimes," she said. "It's a little scary!"

After suffering an injury to his foot, Hough spoke to fans on Instagram.

"Performing 10 shows a week at Radio City while rehearsing with Nastia for DWTS, I've never felt more healthy, strong and fit. But then a fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs," he explained. "Can't believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell. All that dancing , flipping , jumping and the thing that stops me in my tracks is something as simple as a light and some stairs."

Of his ongoing recovery, Hough added, "I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I'm determined to come back stronger than ever."
