Porto vs Dynamo Kiev is the big game in Group A of the Champions League on Wednesday, with both sides hoping to make it through to the knock out stages, and a win today would help both sides. Porto are currently in a good position in this group following their win against Paris Saint-Germain. They will not have been expecting to win that game, and those three points come as a bonus - another three points today would put them in a very strong position to qualify for the knock out stages of this year’s competition.

Meanwhile Dynamo Kiev are also coming off the back of a win in their last game, that time against Dinamo Zagreb. However, they have lost form since that win - going on to lose their following two domestic league matches.

The Ukrainian side seem to have fallen into a slump at the wrong time and if they lose today it will deflate the meaning of their win against Zagreb.

However, other sides currently not setting the world on fire domestically have done well once they’ve stepped out into Europe this year. Among them are Real Madrid and Arsenal. The Spanish champs have gone on a terrible run of form early in the season domestically and already look like they will be unable to retain their La Liga crown, likely losing it to Barcelona who have begun the season is spectacular form.

Arsenal as well have had a very stuttered campaign in the English Premier league but have performed in Europe when they’ve needed to.

Dynamo Kiev will be hoping to follow suit and have their best players step up today in the Champions League despite their woeful domestic form.
