World's Strongest Beer, Brewmeister Produces 65% ABV Beer (WATCH VIDEO)
A Scottish brewery is bragging that is it has produced the world's strongest beer, making it to the Guinness World Record.
Brewmeister's Armageddon claims it has produced an ABV of 65 percent. Most beers in the world have an alcohol level of between 3 to 9 percent.
According to the Brewmeister's official website, the beer's ingredients include crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats and 100 percent Scottish spring water.
"The beer has a viscous quality to it, due to the special freeze fermentation method we use to produce such a high alcoholic beer," production director of Brewmeister, John Mackenzie said.
The Huffington Post reported that the beer undergoes a process called freeze fermenting, which involves cooling the beer to freezing. The water freezes, but the alcohol does not. When the ice is moved, a very strong beer remains.
Brewmeister's advises its customers to "consume this like a fine whisky."
"Despite being 65%, the beer has a lot of flavor-malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast still in the beer. Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!"
Mackenzie said the beer "has a viscous quality to it."
"The phrase delivers a punch doesn't quite cut it - delivers a supersonic charged explosion is probably more appropriate!" the founder and co-director of the brewery Lewis Shand said.
According to the Post, turbo-charged beers seem to be a trend for most Scottish Breweries.
BrewDog, a brewery company that comes from Fraserburgh on the North coast of Scotland, had a 41 percent ABV beer called Sink The Bismarck prior. It was named the strongest beer ever brewed at the time.
Beer has been produced in Scotland for approximately 5,000 years and has become the noted place for exporting the product. Most breweries in the country developed in the central lowlands.
