Kim Kardashian made a splash when she transformed from brunette to blonde for her curvy mermaid Halloween costume.

The reality star became a blonde bombshell for Midori's Green Halloween Party in New York City on Saturday, Oct. 27. Kardashian is a spokesperson for the liquor brand.

And the Lady of the Sea had the perfect date--rapper Kanye West dressed as her captain.

"Getting ready for my Midori Halloween party tonight!!!" the reality star tweeted before the big reveal. "Any idea of what my costume will be???"

Kardashian stepped out wearing a blonde wig, a string of pearls with her seasehell top and a green formfitting mermaid-inspired skirt. The costume gave Disney's favorite mermaid Ariel a run for her money.

When asked why she didn't go as Disney's famous redhead instead, Kardashian replied: "I didn't want to do red hair, like Ariel, because I did red hair with Poison Ivy last year," she told E! News. "I just thought it would be fun to do blonde."

West, 35, wore a nautical striped shirt, blazer and khakis to complete their sea theme.

Kardashian captioned one shot of the couple together, "Me and my captain!"

As Captain Kanye stood nearby and snapped the many photos she later uploaded to her Instagram, Kardashian told E! News why she traded in her signature dark tresses for the party.

"It's Halloween, so I thought if I did my regular hair it would just be kind of boring," she told E! News.

When asked why she wasn't wearing the huge diamond ring she wore last week, following her trip from Rome where she celebrated her 32nd birthday, Kardashian answered: "I don't have a ring [tonight]" she said. "It's a pinky ring. Just a ring! Not a big deal."

As for her costume, Kardashian told E! that it only "took about two hours to get ready."

"It was really fun," she said about the costume designing process. "My stylist Monica Rose helped me put it all together."

Kardashian's sexy mermaid look was inspired by the 1984 movie "Splash."
