Nate Silver Bets Sarborough $2,000 that Obama Wins Election (WATCH VIDEO)
Nate Silver is strongly standing behind his belief that Barack Obama will win the race to the White House by betting Joe Scarborough $2,000.
The New York Times poll guru was pumped up to do this after a Politico article claimed the President could be a "one-term celebrity" if he ended up losing the elections this time around.
According to the Huffington Post, the article has provoked a large media controversy as Silver lashed back and sent several feedbacks on Twitter.
"I think I get a lot of grief because I frustrate narratives that are told by pundits and journalists that don't have a lot of grounding in objective reality," Silver told Charlie Rose on Tuesday.
Silver took the very bold step when he made the bet on Thursday after spotting some tweets by Joe Scarborough.
Scarborough was publicly attacking Silver's ways of covering the elections.
Scarborough tweeted that Silver, along with pollster Scott Rasmussen "stand alone in their certainty" about the outcome of the election on Tuesday.
The New York Times reported that Silver spoke to the paper's public editor Margaret Sullivan. Silver referred to his bet as "half playful and half serious."
"He's been on a rant, calling me an idiot and a partisan, so im asking him to put some integrity behind it,"Silver said about Scarborough.
"I don't stand to gain anything from it; it's for charity."
Silver began first by betting Scarborough $1,000 over how the race is going to turnout and later on in the day, he agreed to donate another $2000 to the Red Cross. This is in response to a reader who offered to match his donation.
This is the second offer Silver has gotten to match his bet about the race in two days.
