On June 2, Deadline reported that the writing team for Transformers 5 has expanded to include two great female writers, Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer.

The report reveals that these are the first two women writers to join the team that is brainstorming to work on prequels and sequels for the popular franchise. Hodson has worked on films like The Fugitive, The Eden Project, and Shut In, in the past. Beer has projects like Dig, Short Circuit, How to Nail An Alien, under her belt. She is currently working on the reboot of The Wizard of Oz. As the Deadline report suggests that it is no boys room for the Transformers franchise, it will be very interesting to see what Hodon and Beer bring to the table. We are hoping for a refreshing perspective in the movies, which have been quite testosterone fueled in the past, with the female characters being of a waifish nature.

In fact another recent development in the Hasbro Transformers toy universe could also lend to an exciting angle in the fifth installment.

Transformers 5 Sticking To 2016 Release Date?

In April, Hasbro announced that it would be coming out with an all-new female cast of Transformers. In its drive to address the call for female representation, the toyline will be unveiling six new characters.

There have been female characters in the Transformers franchise before but none of them have played a pivotal role in the series, and Hasbro is looking to change that. This trend seems to have picked up from the fan-made female Transformer Windblade, who is also a character on a Cartoon Network series based on the Transformers.

It would be very interesting to see Transformers 5 incorporate this development in the movie as well, it will not only be refreshing but will make the film series very current and relevant.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
