Exit Polls 2012 Presidential Election: Obama Leads in Electoral Votes, Romney Wins Indiana and Kentucky
Election polls are slowly coming in as Americans are glued to their televisions, computers and phones to see who will be the next president of the United States.
CNN announced that the first polls closed and Mitt Romney was announced the projected winner in state of Kentucky with 180,021 votes, which is 60 percent over president Obama 38 percent with 115, 077 votes.
Romney also won the state of Indiana with 158,123 which is 57 percent to Obama's 41 percent of 115,392 votes.
Romney was also announced the projected winner for Mississippi, Oklahoma and South Carolina.
President Obama was announced the projected winner for Vermont, Delaware, the District of Columba, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
According to CNN, the latest electoral votes put President Obama ahead of the race with 64 to 56 for Romney.
Nearly 60 percent of Ohio voters supported the auto bailout based on preliminary exit polls, ABC reported. Voters in that state chose Obama as more favorable to the middle class. Voters trust both candidates on how they will both equally handle the economy. Polls in Ohio closed at 7:30.
Exits in Virginia indicated that the states electoral votes are similar in demographics four years ago. About 70 percent of Virginia voters are white and 20 percent are black, ABC reported.
Also in Virginia, Romney leads among men with 52 percent to 45 percent while Obama leads among women with 52 percent to 47 percent.
In addition, Romney won 63 percent of white voters,, while Obama took 94 percent of African American voters.
Lower-income voters favored Obama 60 percent to 38 percent, while those who make more than $100,000 favored Romney with 55 to 42.
According to the preliminary results, Democrats outnumbers Republicans, as they did in 2008, but had independent breaking 59 to 38 for Romney. This could mean a negative thing for Obama.
According to CNN's Larry King, Mitt Romney will need to win the state of Florida in order to win the presidency. That state holds 18 electoral votes.
