Tragedy hit Moscow as a shooter went on a deadly rampage.

Dmitry Vinogradov, a 30-year-old lawyer, fatally shot five of his colleagues at the pharmaceutical firm that he worked at in the Russian capital.

The incident took place Wednesday in what appears to have been a drunken killing spree by Vinogradov after his girlfriend left him.

"The young man - a lawyer at the pharmaceutical chain - was left by a girl, after which he went drinking," a law enforcement source reported to Interfax news agency.

A statement released by the Russian Investigative Committee said that Vinogradov was dressed in camouflage gear carrying two semi-automatic rifles. The gunman killed three men and two women while they were at their desks as well as wounding one man and a woman.

Vinogradov gave himself up to security guards.

According to Russian news site Ria Novosti, a police source stated: "The gunman was a lawyer at the firm at this address. He has told investigators he was in love with a pharmacist at the company, but it was unrequited. So he went on a five-day drinking binge, and today came to work and started shooting. The girl in question is among the victims."

The Russian lawyer had apparently gone on a five-day drinking binge after being jilted by a pharmacist at the firm.

Before the rampage, Vinogradov posted a message on VKontakte, the Russian version of Facebook, and voiced his overall hatred of those around him stating: "What I saw and learned in my life nourished in me a hatred of mankind. I hate mankind and life itself. I see only one way to justify it: Kill as many pieces of human compost as possible ... this is the only way to make the world better."
