Michelle Duggar, mother of 19, was treated to a makeover by her kids on her 46th birthday. Duggar had been rocking the same hairstyle for four decades until now, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

"Going from curly to totally straight was a shock for me," Duggar's told People magazine. "But I am loving it and I have been doing both styles, curly and straight, since the cut."

Duggar also told People that her kids were as shocked as she was. "Little Josie kept touching my hand and saying 'Mommy? Mommy? Mommy? She wanted to make sure I was still me ... it has been fun," Duggar said.

She continued, "I enjoyed the fact that my whole family and my girls came up with this amazing way of showing how much they loved me with a 24-hour birthday surprise."

The TLC 19 Kids and Counting reality star added that she hasn't changed her hairstyle in 40 years.

In the process of changing her hairstyle, her lifelong friend Cindy suggested a shorter style for Duggar. Duggar didn't hesitate as she let the inches come off without trepidation, she told People. 

"I can trust Cindy," she said. "But my back was to the mirror and I didn't know how much I got taken off. It was too funny when I realized how much was gone! And it felt so light."

The reality star's new look is a sleek, straight blowout that is far different from her usual curls and fluffy bangs.

Duggar was a bit nervous to find out what her husband Jim Bob thinks of her new do. "I know Jim Bob likes it long and I am trying to impress him - what he likes is what I want," the reality star said. "I think he was a little shocked at first, it was so straight and so different. But he does like it. I think I shocked everyone at the [birthday] party. They were very surprised."
