Those wondering if Fear The Walking Dead will in any way relate to the events happening on the east coast on The Walking Dead can officially be appeased that the two shows will draw parallels from one another.

Conan O'Brien Gives An 'Exclusive' Sneak Peek At 'FTWD'

Robert Kirkman spilled to Entertainment Weekly about elements from both shows, and revealed that there are going to be things from Fear The Walking Dead which will apply to the first show, especially since the new show starts off in the months where Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was still in a coma on the initial show.

"Everything that happens in Fear The Walking Dead is the same universe as The Walking Dead," he said. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show. These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren't necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances."

Robert Kirkman Reveals How 'TWD' & 'FTWD' Will Be Significantly Different

Kirkman also dropped previously unknown information about how the new group of survivors will come to terms with the fact that they are all infected with the disease and will turn into Walkers themselves if they die--revealing that it will be very different from how Rick and his group learned the truth.

"So yeah, anything that you learn from Fear The Walking Dead will apply to the mythology of The Walking Dead and vice versa," he said. "So you are going to get to see that the characters learn that they're all infected in a much different way. But all the rules do apply and are the same. That will be some of the fun if you're watching both shows."

Fear The Walking Dead premieres later this summer on AMC.
