Facebook Obama Slur: Fired Woman Uses N-word, Suggests Assassination
A 22-year-old fired from her job after posting on Facebook an Obama slur using the N-word is not sorry for her actions, according to Examiner.
The Cold Stone Creamery where Denise Helms worked fired her only 24 hours after she posted the following Facebook message on Nov. 6, expressing her upset over President Barack Obama's re-election: "Another 4 years of this n*****. Maybe he will get assassinated this term."
Helms told Fox 40 Sacramento that, although she did acknowledge the message to be "harsh," she will not offer an apology for writing the comments.
"I didn't think it would be that big of a deal," Helms said. "The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying I'd go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen I don't think I'd care one bit."
The news report added that Cold Stone Creamery's desire to detach themselves from the controversy resulted in them firing Helms from their store, and then stating on Twitter "This employee is no longer w/the company & her disgraceful and completely unacceptable comments do not reflect our views."
A Secret Service agent in the Sacramento office said the agency would look further into Helms' comments, according to NBC News. On Friday, Chris Kegle, director of the Turlock Cold Stone Creamery store where Helms worked, said he found the comments "to be very disgusting," and that they "never saw anything from her at work like those comments," the news report added.
Helms, who is from Turlock, Calif., posted the Facebook message on Election Day, after the election results were announced. She has since deleted the message after negative reactions to it began to circulate.
California voters leaned 59.1 percent in favor of Obama in the presidential election, while 38.5 percent were in favor of Mitt Romney, according to The Huffington Post.
