They've been resourceful in their attempts thus far to evade Xander's (Paul Telfer) mad attempts to kill them, but Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric (Greg Vaughn) will be forced to make a difficult decision after he takes a new approach to get them out of hiding on Days of Our Lives.

Nicole Makes A Shocking Confession To Eric

They had barricaded themselves in a hidden supply room in the basement of Nicole's job, but were forced to climb into the furnace when Xander got into the room. However, he has since figured out their new hiding place--and is changing his approach to either scare them out of their hiding spot or kill them once and for all.

After taunting them that he knows where they are, he then makes a calculated and dangerous move by turning up the heat--warning them that if they stay inside they will suffocate to death. Now, as they weight their options, the two will be forced to decide which fate is less horrific--slow death in the painfully hot room, or quicker, violent, but potentially more merciful death in Xander's murderous hands.

Nicole Finds Herself In Grave Danger With Xander

Choosing to continue to wait it out in the hopes morning will arrive, along with some of Nicole's co-workers to help them, the two will choose to stay inside the furnace--and will remove their clothes in an effort to preserve themselves a little longer. And after they are once again left alone to die, they will revisit the chemistry they once had, and potentially find themselves embracing their old feelings as they await what seems to be a certain death.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
