Michael Douglas might be one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood, but he says it wasn't until he joined the Marval franchise did he finally become "cool." The big screen star opens up about his upcoming movie, Ant-Man and how he's finally won his children's admiration with this film.

According to Cover Media on Tuesday, Douglas said that the film has given him kudos with his two kids, Dylan and Carys.

He said, "I finally got a picture my son is proud of. It's taken me 40 years. Everything, I'm cool, now I'm cool."

Douglas also said that even though doing a superhero movie was a challenge, it's a project he would definitely consider doing again.

"I just wanted to do one of these pics, you know. Just I've never done, you know, my entire career, is a lot of movies has just been contemporary stories, with no special effects, no nothing, just kind of psychological real kind of stories," he explained. "So, this to me was just the excitement of saying hey, this is great. I want to get into Marvel world, you know. I want to taste the kool-aid. It's larger than life. There's a certain theatricality about it. It's arched to a degree, I mean not comedic, not off the charts, but there's a you know, a slight theatrical quality to it."

Ant-Man, which also stars Paul Rudd, premieres in theaters on July 17.
