Fresh off her split from Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez met up with her good friend Taylor Swift on Saturday for a girl's night out.

The two went for dinner to Osteria La Buca in Los Angeles and an onlooker told People, "The girls shared an Italian meal and seemed to have the best time. There were a lot of giggles and laughter."

"They looked like great friends and were also in deep conversation throughout the meal. Taylor was very protective of Selena and escorted her to and from the car," the source added.

The two might have been consoling each other over broken hearts, especially since Swift, 22, recently went through a breakup herself. Her split from Conor Kennedy in the fall was big news considering the publicized summer romance they shared.

Only a day before she went out with Swift, Gomez, went to dinner with Bieber in Los Angeles. However, the night ended badly.

The couple met up at Yamato restaurant but got into an argument almost immediately, an onlooker told People. They left separately within minutes after arriving and Gomez, 20, looked "visibly mad." TMZ then noted that the "Beauty and a Beat" singer followed Gomez back to her home, but she refused to let him through the gate entrance, forcing him to ultimately leave. They also posted pictures of an angry-looking Bieber, 18, standing outside of Gomez's gate.

Bieber and Swift both performed, and won, at the 40th Anniversay American Music Awards on Sunday night. Gomez did not attend the event and Bieber brought his mom as his date.

Swift was seen hand-in-hand with One Direction singer Harry Styles last week at a rehearsal for "The X Factor." The show's host Mario Lopez saw Styles at Swift's rehearsal for her performance of "State of Grace." When he asked the British singer what he was doing there, "he sort of [pointed] toward Taylor," Lopez said.

An onlooker at the rehearsals added about Styles, "He was smiling at her while she rehearsed. When she was done he jumped up on stage, picked her up, put her over his shoulder and carried her off stage. The whole crew was really surprised."
