According to Swedish publication Expressen, the YouTuber made $7.4 million last year by streaming videos of himself playing video games and doing other silly things on the video platform.

That figure has a bunch of zeros tacked on its end, which did not sit well with many people browsing the Internet. Many nasty comments were left to the YouTube star on his various social media accounts, which ultimately resulted in him releasing a video on Tuesday discussing his profits.

"Money is a topic that I have purposely tried to avoid for the five years that I've been making videos because I just feel like it's not important to anyone," he revealed in the video.

His goal of producing content on YouTube is to be entertaining. Of course the money earned doesn't hurt, but it's not his main purpose of being on YouTube.

In the video, which is below, PewDiePie is very candid and personable, which is why he's ultimately so successful. If people didn't care for his personality, they wouldn't watch his videos.

"They thought I just sit on my a-- all day and I just yell at the screen over here, which is true, but there's so much more to it," he shared about the people upset over his earnings.

Plus, the Internet personality dished to any unhappy individuals that think he is undeserving of his earnings to "go refresh their [other YouTubers who apparently should earn more than him] videos over and over cause that's how we get paid."

On Twitter Wednesday, PewDiePie thanked his supporters, sharing, it "means a lot" for the response to his video.
