"The Voice" announced their top eight after a shocking elimination that sent home one of the season's frontrunners on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Sylvia Yacoub and Bryan Keith found themselves leaving the competition after the viewer's votes put them in the bottom two.

The departure of Keith was a surprise to the show's host Carson Daly and coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green.

Before Daly announced the voters' results, Keith told the crowd, "No matter what happens, I just want to say thanks. I love you guys. Keep rockin'!"

Yacoub joined her teammate Dez Duron with their coach Aguilera to open the show by performing a new track, "Let There Be Love," from Aguilera's recently released "Lotus" album. Aguilera wore another questionable hairstyle: a bleached blonde Cleopatra-style wig, with the bangs trimmed with black tips.

Levine performed a Queen classic with his team- Amanda Brown, Melanie Martinez and Keith. The foursome took on "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" with Levine flaunting his tattoos in a tee while strumming a guitar.

Carson announced that a new interactive feature: viewers were given the opportunity to choose which song the teams would perform later in the show, making it a bit more complicated than ever before because the acts would sing songs they had not rehearsed. Team Blake and Team Christina won the viewers' choice and sang Pat Benatar's classic rock song "Hit Me With Your Best Shot."

Later, Rascal Flatts took the stage as the night's guest performers and sang "Change" with contestants Cassadee Pope and Cody Belew.

Later, Daly announced that "The Voice" contestants had another great week of garnering record-breaking votes. Every artist charted on iTunes, with Melanie Martinez landing at No. 8 and Cassadee Pope at No.1.

The  top eight of "The Voice's" third season are:

Team Green- Nicholas David, Belew and Trevin Hunte

Team Shelton- Pope and Terry McDermott

Team Aguilera: Duron

Team Levine- Martinez and Brown.

"The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7 Central on NBC.
