History has officially made within the NFL following the Arizona Cardinals hiring the first female coach in the league's history.

Jen Welter has joined the team as a training-camp and preseason intern who will work with the team's inside linebackers throughout training camp and the preseason, and is believed to be the first woman to hold any type of coaching position in NFL history.

According to AZ Central, her short tenure will see her being one of seven coaching interns who will work with the team this summer.

The historic move has received a lot of praise online, with members of the actual Cardinals team speaking out about the hiring and sharing their praise for the decision and welcoming Welter to the team.

"One team, one goal!Let's go to work coach @jwelter47! #Birdgang #OperationBringLombardiTrophytoAZ," cornerback Patrick Peterson wrote.

"If that's not big news, idk what is," offensive guard Earl Watford added.

"S/O to @jwelter47...Welcome to AZ coach," linebacker Kevin Minter said.

Her hiring has also earned other praise online as well.

However, there were still some detractors online who didn't agree with the decision.
