According to the numbers in social media, Big Bird and PBS were the biggest winners during the first presidential debate on Oct.3. The debate with President Obama against Republican candidate Mitt Romney rapidly increased the popularity of the children's character. When Romney mentioned that he would stop funding to PBS, the network that airs Sesame Street, a series of support drives was instantly created online to show support for the popular children's program that has been on air since 1969.
The Presidential Debate 2012 is set to take place Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. EST. All major TV networks and news channels will air the debate live, which will take place at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.

The Wikipedia page of Mia Love, the Republican mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah was hacked into and updated with offensive comments after she delivered a speech at the RNC convention on Aug. 28. After delivering what many reports are calling an "energizing" speech and considered one of the best of the evening, an anonymous writer added the byline that Love is "dirty, worthless wh**e who sold out her soul in the name of big business" on her Wikipedia page.
