LOOK: Boy Group 6IN1 Performs Chinese Version Of SB19's 'Gento'
Chinese boy group 6IN1 from TF Entertainment recently posted on Weibo its version of Filipino boy group SB19's hit song "Gento."
Aside from translating the song's lyrics into Chinese and English, the members also gave the song a new spin and interpretation with a new arrangement.
Compared to the original version by SB19's leader and 1Z Entertainment CEO Pablo with his co-producers Joshua Daniel Nase and Simon Servida, 6IN1's version features a hypnotic vibe similar to the sounds of a snake charmer's flute.
6IN1's version of "Gento" has since been reposted on different social media platforms and has been getting good feedback from A'TIN -- SB19 fans.
"I didn't expect that 'Gento' will have a Chinese version. 'Gento' is really something. It's been [seven] months since its release, but it is still popular," commented one fan on the reuploaded video on YouTube.
"I like the fact that they did their own interpretation of 'Gento.' It sounded like their own traditional sound, look and language. They gave their all to the performance. It's like I'm watching C-Drama," commented another user.
"Love it! They did it on their own Chinese version and had their own choreography. It shows how 'Gento' of SB19 had a massive impact on other countries," wrote a different netizen.
"Wow. Finally, someone made a proper full cover of SB19's 'Gento,' not just the dance part. The flute in the entire song is awesome. Keep improving your vocals, 6IN1, so you can have powerful live performances and impress your audience more. Good luck!" commented a fourth user.
"I appreciate the fact that they made it their own and did not succumb to the pressure handed down by all those bashers online. They gave the song a musical twist and a somewhat Indiana Jones look, but it's still 'Gento' at its very core. Go, 6IN1!" said someone else.
"FANTASTIC! This is a very unique version of our MAHALIMA SB19's 'Gento.' I would say that this is a theatrical version. Thank you, 6IN1, for covering and appreciating Filipino music," another commented.
In other news, SB19 was named among the most-listened-to artists on Emirates flights in 2023. In a blog post by Emirates shared Wednesday titled "That's a wrap for ice 2023! Emirates reveals 'most watched and listened to' content in the sky," SB19 joined artists like BTS' Jimin, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Arijit Singh, ABBA, Fairuz and Burna Boy as the Emirates passengers' favorites.
SB19's popularity significantly grew after the group released "Gento" in May. It has gained overwhelming success worldwide, with different celebrities and personalities dancing to it on TikTok.
