While controversy swirled around the third effort in the Expendables franchise, not to mention the studio's decision to release a PG-13 cut of the film against Sylvester Stallone's wishes, it seems like that much crazier and action-packed version will still be making it into the hands of the fans of the franchise.

'The Matrix' Star Slated To Be An 'Expendable' Next?

IGN reported on Tuesday that The Expendables 3 would be getting an unrated version that would be hitting stores two weeks prior to the release of the theatrical version. The unrated version, which includes the theatrical version also, would be heading to stores on Nov. 11 rather than Nov. 25.

Quoted as saying that the unrated version will feature "more action, more explosions, more fights -- and a higher body count," it will also feature many more scenes than the theatrical version and won't hold back any punches.

Director's Cut Of 'Expendables 3' Will Feature More Violence, R-Rated Content

This has been something rumored since the release of the movie and the knowledge that there was another version that Stallone wanted to put in theaters, but was shut down due to the studio feeling that it wouldn't perform as well at the box office as a PG-13 version.

But in reality, the PG-13 version struggled at the box office, which probably led to Lionsgate accepting Stallone's plea and putting the unrated version on the DVD for fans to see and compare to the other form.

With Stallone promising that The Expendables 4 will be "hardcore rated-R," a good reception to this unrated version could help persuade both the actor and the studio to make it happen soon.
