Bobby Shmurda's Attorney Discusses Trial Extension

On Thursday, New York Daily News reported that 18-year-old Kimberly Rousseau tried to sneak a sharp metal weapon to Shmurda by hiding it inside her bra. After taking a plea deal, she will apparently have her criminal record erased if she stays out of trouble for the next year.

It was also mentioned that Rousseau will be sentenced as a juvenile and her record wiped away in exchange for the deal.

Bobby Shmurda's New Song Gets Released While He Remains In Jail

In a previous post from Vulture, it was revealed that Shmurda may get a longer jail sentence due to this incident. While he was looking at approximately 25 years behind bars, he could stay in there for 32 now. He is on a $2 million bail for allegedly leading a violent gang.

A trial was expected to happen last June, but it's been extended till October. The rapper's attorney Kenneth Montgomery explained via BET why this was bound to happen.

"There's 13 defendants in the conspiracy case, each of them charged with different underlying charges and conduct and the government just ordered swabs from the guy and it takes time to get the swabs done, DNA wise," Montgomery said. "There's other issues and more discoveries to come, so I suspect on the 25 that the case is going to be adjourned for some time, which is realistic going forward."
