E’dena Hines, who was rumored to be romantically involved with Freeman, is said to have been stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 30-year-old Lamar Davenport. In the latest news Davenport is now in custody after the tragedy took place in Manhattan Sunday. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Hines was pronounced dead after being rushed to Harlem Hospital nearby. Police found her with multiple injuries after someone called them from her apartment building, according to NBC early Monday.

The Bruce Almighty actor has released a statement on his behalf and that of his family.

“The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough o have known what she meant as a person,” he wrote on Facebook. “Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”

He went on to thank fans for their “tremendous outpouring of love and support.”

Many have taken to Twitter to share their condolences and thoughts on the tragedy.

One wrote, “That’s just a shame. I feel so bad…”

Another added that the story is “sick!”

A third questioned, “what’s happening in the world…” as a fourth said there’s too much “evil.”
