With writer Kelly Marcel officially underway on penning the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film script, the casting stage of the future hit is most definitely getting closer and closer to fruition.

With that said, many fans still continue to voice their opinions on just who will don the role of fresh-faced college graduate Anastasia Steele. While Alexis Bledel was the clear-cut favorites for the part, a recent online poll by The Daily Quirk revealed that Australian actress Lauren Watson took runner-up in the voting.

According to the Examiner, the Aussie beauty proudly revealed her infatuation with the racy read.

"Yes, I have read the books!  I didn't know anything about them and one of my friends said 'GO!  NOW!  Get the books and read them today!'  I couldn't argue with that!  I got them and read them all within the week!  I was hooked," she said.

Aside from knowing James' erotica inside and out, Watson also had some opinions on how the casting process for the part of Christian Grey should unfold.

"I'm a big fan of Chace Crawford. He could play anyone and it would work for me! I really like Matt Bomers look and Jessie Pavelka is another top candidate for me when I think of Christian's physical image. I don't think I can pick just one actor!! Whoever ends up with the job as casting director has some tough decisions ahead," she added.

At the start of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novels, Ana is described as a 21-year-old virgin who is very quiet. Nonetheless, she eventually agrees to the S&M-crazed billionaire's submissive ways.

Judging by the precedent set by author E.L. James, the leading lady playing Ana would most certainly have to bring an element of sex appeal to the casting table. However, the actress must be able to pull it off in a naïve and shy kind of way.
