A recent report by The Hollywood Reporter about the filming of Fast and Furious 8 has set things astir and Vin Diesel has been the subject of some criticism.

Wish List Of New Stars Joining Fast and Furious 8

The report suggested that the movie hadn't been able to score the directors it hoped for because of Diesel's demands of them. It revealed the James Wan, the director of Furious 7, had opted out of the next instalment because filming the latest one was nothing short of gruelling for him and Diesel had something to do with that. Diesel reportedly had the director work overtime on late-night script sessions so that he could feel more comfortable and prepared for his character. Now a new GQ report reveals that Diesel has denied that his "high standards" are causing any delays. GQ also stands by Diesel's camp and the tone of the piece seems to be attacking THR for its criticism of Diesel.

The team over at Universal has also denied any such claims. Recently a spokesperson said that Wan was never being considered for the spot:

Need 'Good Reason To Move On Without Paul,' Michelle Rodriguez Says Of Furious 8

"the studio and filmmakers loved working with James on Furious 7, but he was never in the mix for an eighth film due to a scheduling conflict with The Conjuring 2. We are actively casting and searching for the right director for the next chapter of the franchise."

Justin Lin was another director the studio was looking to hire. Lin has already directed a bunch of Fast and Furious movies preceding Furious 7. But Lin has also turned down -- what was reportedly a very lucrative deal -- to work on another coveted project, the nest Star Trek movie.

Fast and Furious 8 will release on April 17, 2017.
